Depending on where you live, you may find parking to be a problem. Even smaller communities have issues with where residents can park. Some have odd and even parking, which means you have to watch where you park, and being on the wrong side of the road will earn you a ticket. You may have off street parking, and if you do, you may want to be sure you have some parking signs up so that no one else takes your private space. This is also something that many businesses have to worry about when parking spaces are limited in an area.
For your personal use, you can find parking signs both in stores and online that you can use to mark your space. You have to be careful with this however, as you can not claim a public spot as your own. That means you can not go outside on the street in front of your house and put up a sign that says ?no parking? when the city permits parking in that area. You can only use parking signs to mark your spot or driveway on your own private property. If you are disabled, call your local authorities to get a proper sign for parking up in front of your home.
Those who own businesses have the same limitations. They can not specify that street parking is their own, but they can mark their own parking lots. There are a few exceptions, like funeral homes, but they may only section off some spaces when they are having services. Other than that, the parking is first come first serve. Even then, their no parking signs are more of a suggestion than anything else. Most respect those signs however, as they understand a grieving family needs those parking spots, at least temporarily.
When it comes to your business parking lot, you do have a say in who can park there and who can not. Though larger lots don?t mind people parking to go elsewhere, those with smaller lots want to be sure their customers have a place to park. This is when parking signs are a great idea. You can specify that your customers are the only ones to use your limited spaces, and you can even have parking signs that indicate you want the lot clear, even when you are closed. Some do this to prevent lawsuits for things that might happen in the parking lot after hours.
