Airsoft Practical Shooting Association Is A Great One

By: Baily Richards

Airsoft is a type of shooting sport very similar to the hobby of Paintball. The goal of each team is to eliminate the other team by canceling them out with small plastic sphere-like balls, also known as BBs. The BBs are shot from the airsoft guns. The guns that are used are designed to look like real firearms. The other accessories involved are also made to look like military or police gear. The game of Airsoft was made in Japan during the 1970s. New laws were instated during this time that kept the citizens from owning their own guns. Therefore, the game of Airsoft was started.

As the game of Airsoft became so popular, The International Airsoft Practical Shooting Federation was formed. The Airsoft Federation sponsors all of the countries that are not able to have an organization for Airsoft. The IAPS does not discriminate against race or religious views. The official language spoken by the members of the Federation is English. All of the documents are also processed in the English language. If another country is having a dispute about the Federation details, it will be translated in French. There are multiple Federations involved with the IAPS. The Executive Committee of the IAPS are in charge of all of the Federations and members. The Executive Committee is made up of 2 main people, the President and the Secretary General. Each person serves on a 4 year basis and can be renewed as President or Secretary. For new members to be added, it must be agreed upon by the Executive Committee.

For a federation’s membership to be cancelled with the IAPS the following has to occur:

* Shooting activity has ceased to exist

* The Executive Committee passes a petition with Congress to cancel the membership

* The Federation resigns their membership

Once the membership of a Federation is closed, the members of the said Federation no longer have rights or can claim a refund from previous fees. If a Federation wishes to re-enter the IAPS, no matter the situation at hand when they left, they can ask to be reinstated. The Executive Committee has to review their application, research any fees that were not paid, and examine the activity of the Federation since they left the IAPS. It is not allowed for a Federation that is involved with the IAPS to have any sort of relationship with a Federation that was cancelled membership with the Airsoft Federation.
