Plenty of people have tried and tested these theories, and although nothing can really be set in stone, for many people, these theories have worked. A healthy diet is actually needed to maintain optimum health, and keeping your skin healthy is one of the biggest problems that we face. Our busy, hectic lifestyles have led to increased stress levels and awkward sleeping patterns, and these are well known factors when it comes to getting wrinkles. That, combined with poor nutrition, all builds up to increasing the speed in which the aging process occurs, and in particular, wrinkles.
One of the main foods that prevent wrinkles is salmon. Omega-3 fatty acids have been proven to keep the skin well nourished and also acts as one of the skins natural lubricants. These lubricants help to keep the skin supple and maintains it’s elasticity. This means that when the skin is damaged, it is able to repair itself, and thus preventing wrinkles. Studies have shown that one medium sized portion of salmon consumed two or three times a week can actively fight wrinkles from appearing. You could then decide to combine this seafood with dark orange vegetables. Things such as pumpkin, squash, carrots and orange peppers have also been proven to contain antioxidants that can prevent wrinkles.
More foods that prevent wrinkles are nuts, in particular, almonds and cashew nuts. These contain fats that are healthy for the skin. These fats help to keep the skin nourished and well-maintained, leading to less damage and therefore less wrinkles. Almonds also has other health beneifts and has been proven to boost brain power. This in turn can help to prevent not only wrinkles, but also Alzheimer’s disease, making it truly power food!
Kale is a leafy vegetable that contains iron, Vitamin A, lutein and antioxidants. These are nutrients that are very important for healthy skin. Spinach is another example of a green leafy vegetable that has anti-wrinkle properties. This is an easy food to combine into a diet, and does more than just prevent wrinkles! You could also try eating fresh berries. You do need to ensure, however, that these berries, blueberries and blackberries in particular, are completely organic. Pesticides and other chemicals that are sometimes used in the growing of such fruits can cause a toxic build up in the cells, meaning that they wouldn’t be very good for your skin at all and cannot be claimed to be one of the foods to prevent wrinkles. Eating a couple of portions of organic berries, however, can actively fight against wrinkles.
Olive oil, whether digested or just rubbed on to the skin in the form of oil or soap, has been proven to have anti-wrinkle properties and has been used by people for this purpose for centuries! It is another source of a healthy fat and has been proven to keep your skin nourished and well-maintained. It helps the skin to repair itself once it is damaged and can therefore reduce the visibility of wrinkles.
There are plenty of foods that prevent wrinkles. Finding ones that you enjoy eating, that you can actually incorporate into your diet needn’t be a problem. Try looking it up and you will be amazed at the foods that prevent wrinkles that you can find.
