Are you looking to buy a new HDMI compatible receiver or have is it been recommended by some friend of yours or a salesman in that electronics shop? Or have you heard a rumor that all your audio-video gadgets will become outdated if you don’t upgrade them to HDMI standards? Well, first of all in case you don’t know what HDMI is, we’ll give you a brief introduction. HDMI or High Definition Multimedia Interface is the latest technology available in the market for audio-video data transmission. HDMI technology has enabled audio-video transmission over a single cable as against the tradition dual wire cables. This has not only reduced the number of cables involved, the complexity and the cost of wiring, but also reduced significantly the clutter of wires in our living rooms. HDMI cables can carry multi channel audio-video signals over a single cable. HDMI technology has also reduced the data losses and eliminated the disturbances that occur in the transmission of audio signals as compared to conventional DVI technology. HDMI supports almost all the existing video and audio formats and is exclusively supporting the Blu-ray technology. There are a lot of other features that make HDMI really the way to go ahead.
In case you are planning to buy a receiver which is HDMI compatible then there are a few points that you should keep in mind. First of all you must be able to figure out that how many devices you currently have and you expect to buy in the near or medium term future which will be HDMI enabled. Once you have figured this out, you should try to find out HDMI enabled receivers with at least two more HDMI inputs and outputs than what you’ll use after considering all the HDMI compatible devices you have or that you intend to buy.
Also try to find out the HDMI receiver which does not keep all the HDMI and analog audio-video signals separate. This should be taken care of so that you don’t need to plug in separate wires for your HDTV and so that you don’t have to keep on switching between different inputs.
All said and done, you should also keep in mind the price factor, because, while the quality is important, you should be wise in choosing what you buy and not hurt your pocket too much. But rest assured, whatever money that you spend on buying HDMI receivers will not go waste because it is the technology of the present and future and with features like HDCP which will give it exclusive rights to premium data and content, it will become a must very soon for all homes.
