HDMI or High Definition Multimedia Interface is the latest buzzword in the audio-video signal and data transmission industry. This technology has revolutionized the way audio-video signals are passed from the input to the output devices and vice versa. HDMI enabled devices have extremely high quality of sound and image. This is possible because HDMI is based on a single wire data transmission technology. Unlike the earlier composite wires, the HDMI cables have only one wire which serves as a two way data transfer cable. HDMI cables thus reduce the complexity of the system significantly and also help in keeping the cost down because of the use of only a single wire for two way data transmission. HDMI cables reduce the data loss to almost negligible values which enhance the picture quality. HDMI cable also does away any kind of ghosting or disturbances during audio signal transmission which ensures that you get the most perfect sound.
HDMI acts as the perfect interface between the input devices like the DVD players and the output devices like a digital screen or TV. It is only because of HDMI technology that we are now able to connect and view crystal clear images on our TV stored in the computer’s memory. There are many other features associated with HDMI like HDCP. HDMI is being constantly improved with the version HDMI 1.3 being the latest one. But what would you do if you need to show the images on multiple output devices or digital screens?
Well, the answer to that problem lies in a HDMI signal splitter. The splitter acts as a divider of the output. The splitter sends the signal across to different screens. So while your input is the same, you can display, the same image or picture or video on more than one digital screens. This is just like the opposite of a HDMI switcher. While a switcher connects different input devices to the screen, a splitter connects different output devices to one source.
There are various companies selling HDMI splitters and can be found on websites like

These splitters range from anywhere from 0 to 0 depending upon the number of input and output sources that they support.
These days a new type of splitter is also available which can support multiple input as well as output devices on a single machine. These are more commonly referred to as HDMI splitter/switcher box. It makes more sense to buy this unit because it saves money and space both in the long run if you have more than one TV in your house or office.
