There is not a fixed format in what concerns composing texts for obituaries. There is only a certain general pattern that is specific for each geographical area, which includes some of the customs of the specific zone. So if you want to compose an obituary you can easily analyze the ones that you will find in your local newspaper or on the internet and you can follow the features of form and content of those in order to compose your own text.
There are numerous and varied obituary formats and for this reason people have the liberty of following the specific format that they consider the best for their preferences. That is why there have also been created the obituaries in lyrical form so as to express better the particularities of a certain person and to express also the feelings of the person composing the text. So if we take a close look upon all the obituaries in general, there are all composed in function of the personal feelings and thoughts of the person who composes them and in function of the features of the dead person that they talk about.
It is a personal piece of writing and for this reason we may notice the personal implication of the ones writing such a piece of writing. An obituary text must contain the important dates from the life of the deceased person, such as the birth date and the date of death. Moreover, some people also include the main features of the deceased person inside the obituaries. These general dates concern the most important and relevant information that may concern the ones reading the obituary as well.
Usually obituaries are used for announcing the death of a person and the details of the funeral. For this reason we may consider that they have an informative scope, as they inform the people who knew the dead person where to come in the case in which they want to come to the funeral.
It is not difficult to compose an obituary as long as you follow the basic rules imposed by this piece of writing and as long as you express your personal feelings about the sorrowful event. You must include some personal implication as well, as usually obituaries are written by people who knew the dead person pretty well and who have feelings for the person that diet at a certain time.
