Pro Snowboarding Is Possible

By: Evan Tyler

When you think of a pro athlete, the type of person that comes to mind is probably an adult. However, with snowboarding, younger people have the upper hand. The main belief is that it takes years of experience before one is thought to be a pro at a sport. Teenagers are much different. While they will advance even more throughout the years, they are much more flexible than their adult peers. Because of this, they are able to amount for many more advanced jumps in a shorter amount of time. Surprisingly enough, many pro snowboarders who are teenagers are not even able to drive a car but they own an Olympic medal. The youngest snowboarders are said to be 13 to 14 years of age.

Snowboarding was actually invented by teenagers. Skiing can become boring for those who are younger and it can also seem quite "Unpopular", considering that many adults are seen skiing. Snowboarding also attracts a large teen audience because of the teenage pro snowboarders. According to the snowboarding pros, excelling at snowboarding is much easier to do in a short amount of time, compared to the years that it takes to excel at skiing. It is not uncommon for a snowboarding beginner to become an expert in as little as four years.

If you are older in age, do not be discouraged about trying snowboarding. If you have never skied before then you may not want to venture out on the board quite yet. It is much easier to start with skiing first because you have the support of the two sticks that you use to push off with. However, if you are an avid skier, you may find that snowboarding is a great way to improve your balancing skills and your agility out on the slopes. If you find that you enjoy snowboarding so much and you perfect the tricks, you might end up switching to snowboarding completely. Snowboarding will give you much more freedom when it comes to tricks.
