Scooter Safety Should Be The Most Important

By: Jerry Gilders

Let us first think about kid’s scooter safety. In one year nearly forty thousand kids were hospitalized because of the scooter accidents. All the kids were of the age not more than 15 years. The kick start scooter is most prevalent in kids. These scooters generally do not use high power.

This unfortunately gives false impression that these types of scooters are not involved in the accidents. These folding types are very easy to use. They are recreational in nature. The kids enjoy these folding type scooters and parents feel that they are safe. The electric powered and gas powered scooters of this type generally do not have more than 15 miles per hour speed. It is clearly mentioned that the parental guidance is necessary. Unfortunately after some time parents feel that kids can manage on their own. The norms for scooter safety for kids become relaxed. This is very dangerous. Now let us see what precautionary measures can one take for scooter safety in case of the kids.

How can kids protect their bodies?

First of all always wear your helmet. You are playing in your neighborhood. You feel you are safe. So why should you wear the helmet? But remember that you can fall from your scooter on the asphalt road. This impact will damage your brain beyond repair. A small injury to your head can bring in great trouble for the kid. So kids should always wear helmet while playing their folding type kick start scooters. There are knee pads available. Similarly elbow pads are also available.

Use them regularly as scooter safety measure. This will protect your kids in case of any type of the scooter accident.

The second scooter safety rule for kids will be always riding your scooter in clear day time only. The problem arises in the evening. The children just forget that daylight is not there any more. If kids play late in the evenings in low visibility, they are actually inviting accidents to happen.

The third scooter safety rule will be the place where you are riding the scooter.

Always ride the scooter away from the cars or other vehicles. There are generally well paved pathways. Use them for riding your scooter. The kids should avoid the heavy traffic roads for playing or riding their scooters.

Always stay away from the sand or gravel. Your scooter can slip on such surfaces. Also avoid the water or surface with spilled oil on it. The scooter safety tells us that kids should always use smooth surface to rid their scooters.

The scooter safety rules for adults can not be very different. The scooter safety for adults will say avoids negligent driving. The scooter safety will mean always wear body protecting gears. The scooter safety will mean maintain your scooter well.
