Target Rifle Shooting For Beginners Is A Great Hobby

By: Pat King

The game of pool is as much about skill as it is about knowledge of the game. The fundamental starting block in any pool game is perfecting body form. Beginners need to establish a working relationship between hand and body composition early on in the game.

Start by working on equal body weight distribution with feet spaced no further than shoulder width apart. Maintain balance by placing the non-dominate leg slightly forward. For example, a left handed shooter should have the right leg slightly out front. The body should remain stationary with the exception of the shooting arm.

Approach the pool table at the edge with a 30 degree body angle above the cue stick. Make every attempt to prevent the shooting arm from coming into contact with the body when taking a shot. Keep the head in line with the cue stick at a position slightly above the pool table surface. The head should always keep alignment with the edge of the pool stick.

Aside from body position, the next best pool shooting tips for beginners is strategy. The more prepared a player’s strategy is going into any game, the better the chances of winning. At all times during the game, a player should be in constant thought mood. It is essential that every pool player know what the current situation is and what the next move should be. The next shot should be visualized. Knowing when to play defensively and offensively should be second nature. These are things that beginners will need time and practice to perfect.

Part of this strategy element also includes keeping a close watch on the pool table itself during the game. When a player is waiting a turn, the thought process should be laying out shot plans for the next three moves at a minimum. This in turn develops a plan for movement of the cue ball. With the visualization of where the cue ball needs to fall each time, a player can plan subsequent moves accordingly.

Many beginners take comfort in the knowledge that every aspect of the cue can be controlled. Selecting the right pool cue is as important, if not more important, than visualizing upcoming shots. Ideal cue weights for beginners should be close to 21 ounces in weight. The heavier weight will make for a more controlled spin on the pool balls in play.

One of the best pool shooting tips for beginners is to have patience. Expert pool players got that way by years of practice. It takes time to learn the art of the game and polish up on skills learned. For now, just relax and have fun. The rest will come naturally.
