No One Likes Wrinkles Do They?

By: Chris Sussan

Every person will experience wrinkles at some point in their life. Whether it be caused by the aging process, lack of sleep, smoking, or poor nutrition, they happen to us all. There are ways and means in which we can try to prevent them, and also things we can do to remove them once they have already appeared, but in reality, what is the point? They are going to happen to us once we reach a certain age anyway, why try and avoid it?

In the society we live in today, it is considered important for us to look good, and also to want to look good, on the outside. When it comes to wrinkles, the phrase - "Beauty is on the inside" comes to mind. Wrinkles happen because of effects from within our bodies. We can ll apply make up first thing in the morning to cover our imperfections - wrinkles, spots, veins, blemishes and so on. The thing is, we can try to delay this aging process from taking care of ourselves on the inside.

We are all going to grow old one day. It is inevitable, and with age, comes wrinkles. We’ve all seen the celebrities of a certain age that have perfect skin. If you think about it, you can sort of understand why they choose to make themselves look younger, being in the public eye and such like. The pressure of us to be skinny, good-looking, wrinkle free people is getting more and more each day, especially with the sorts of people we are looking at everyday, in films, magazines and on the news. People are looking younger, or trying to look younger for longer. Why is this? Why do people feel the need to hide their age, and the signs that accompany their age, with the use of creams, make up, surgery and other such things? We all know how old they really are, so why try and hide that?

Now, we all want to look good. And when we look good, we feel good. And we all want to feel good. The thing is, do we have to resort to such dramatic methods to do this? Surgery, is just one example. It is an expensive way to want to get rid of wrinkles. It is also fairly dangerous. There is a recovery period, where you look and feel like you have beaten around the face. Why would you want to go through such drastic measures to look a few years younger? Injections is another measure that is thought of fondly when it comes to preserving the looks of a younger generation. Collagen, botox, you name it, it’s on the market in one way or another. The thing is, these methods are becoming more and more available, and to people of a much younger age! They are becoming more affordable, and can be done in so many places. Again, there can be some nasty side effects. There is also the recovery time to consider, as well as what you should do if it all goes wrong, and it does! We’ve all seen the horrow stories on the news of people’s surgery going horribly wrong. We’ve seen it, so why do we still put ourselves through it?

At the end of the day, all the time the celebrities are looking twenty when they are actually in their fifties, we shall still follow like sheep. Wouldn’t it be refreshing for somebody to grow old gracefully and embrace the things that come with it - grey hair, wrinkles and everything else that is now considered to be not glamorous enough? Still, I’m sure that when we get out of bed tomorrow, we will look in the mirror and apply the make up to cover the things that we don’t want people to see, wrinkles being just one of them. After all, none of us want to look old. In reality, one day we will all grow old, and you can only hold the wrinkles at bay for so long!
