Chocolate Sour Cream Drops Cookie Recipe

The chocolate sour cream drops cookie recipe mingles dark chocolate with the richness of sour cream, topped with a chocolate butter frosting!

Ingredients 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, softened 1 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 large egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled 1 8-ounce carton sour cream 2 cups all-purpose flour

Chocolate Butter Frosting: 1/2 stick salted butter, softened 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 3 tablespoons milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Hardware Large bowl Medium bowl Small microwave safe bowl Cookie sheets Mixer

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Step 2: In a small microwave safe bowl, melt baking chocolate on medium-high setting until smooth and creamy; set aside.

Step 3: In a large bowl, beat butter with an electric mixer on medium-high speed for 30 seconds. Step 4: Add brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Beat until combined.

Step 5: Add melted chocolate; beat until combined.

Step 6: Beat in sour cream. Step 7: Beat in flour, finish mixing with spoon if needed. Step 8: Drop by rounded teaspoons 2 inches part onto ungreased cookie sheets. Step 9: Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are firm. Transfer cookies to cooling surface.

Chocolate Butter Frosting: Step 1: In a medium bowl, with an electric mixer beat 1/2 stick of butter on medium-high speed until light and fluffy. Step 2: Gradually add 1 cup powdered sugar and 1/3 cup cocoa powder, beating well.

Step 3: Slowly beat in 3 tablespoons milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Step 4: Gradually beat in remaining 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Step 5: When cookies are completely cooled spread frosting across each one.

Makes 40 cookies.
