What Your Shoes Say About You!

By: Mark Hunt

Gorgeous dress, hideous shoes. Isn't it a terrible shame to have a great outfit fall short because of an unattractive pair of clodhoppers? At the office, parties, and in our daily lives we witness this unfortunate phenomenon. All of us have seen others, or worse ourselves, let footwear drag down a great look instead of being the crowning jewel to complete it.

In the business world, the way a person puts themselves together can have a huge impact on the impression they give to both management and colleagues alike. It gives a statement that you are serious, a professional and are an asset to their business. This is hard to do if a great suit is finished off by a less than stellar pair of heels.

I love when I find a shoe I can’t live without. You know the feeling. You run to your closet to admire the new Jimmy Choo shoes yet again. Knowing how cute you’ll look in them. I know when I bought my first pair of Yves St. Laurent I must have checked them out 50 times. You wouldn’t believe the number of compliments I got on them! I look forward to seeing the new designer styles every season. Vera Wang, Dolce & Gabbana and Nicole Miller are just a few that seem to never disappoint me.

Now I know many people are plagued by foot issues, my own mother included. Comfort and style, in the past, didn’t seem to go hand in hand. Truly, this is not the case today. Many brands are dedicated to comfort, but are also quite trendy. Taryn Rose and Mephisto are two that have put their best foot forward (no pun intended) to combine comfort and style.

No matter what our age, we all love to feel good about ourselves. When I was in the 4th grade I desperately wanted a particular pair of sandals with a little heel. I begged my mother and finally wore her down to get me those Candies. I wore those things constantly and felt like I owned the world when I had them on! As adults, we want to look and feel our best. Certainly, wearing a comfortable shoe we love can put a spring in our step and give us the confidence to be the best we can be.
