Rocky Atkinson's Race Day (Texas)

By: Rocky Atkinson

We hit again last week for you as we told you to take Carl Edwards in the Head to Head Matchups and he cashed and won the race outright!! Overall though if you joined us we actually had a losing week this past week in Nascar losing -.3 units. So pretty much a break even weekend for us at the Atlanta track. As I keep telling everyone about Handicapping Nascar is that one of the things we can’t control or cannot handicap is a driver getting into an unavoidable accident. That’s what happened again to us this past weekend and costs us another winning week in the Nextel cup action.

Tony Stewart remains the leader in the Points Chase 43 points ahead of 2nd place Jimmie Johnson. Greg Biffle is in third 75 points back while Carl Edwards moved up to fourth after his 1st place finish and is only 107 points back tied with Ryan Newman. Mark Martin comes in at 6th this week, 143 points behind Stewart, Kenseth is in 7th, 155 points back, Rusty Wallace in 8th, 257 points back, Kurt Busch comes in at 9th, 260 points out of first and rounding out the Top 10 is Jeremy Mayfield, 310 points back. The biggest mover this week was Matt Kenseth moving up two positions. Ryan Newman and Rusty Wallace both dropped two positions.

The Race for the Nextel Cup moves to Texas this weekend with three races remaining. Jimmie Johnson has the best average finish of the Top 10 here at Texas with an average finish of 6.5 including 4 Top 10 finishes in his 4 races here. Kurt Busch is 2nd best with an average finish of 9.8 at Texas. The worst average finishers among the Top 10 drivers in Texas is Ryan Newman at 24 and Greg Biffle with an average finish of 20. Drivers out of the Top 10 who have won this race include Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin, Greg Biffle and Ryan Newman. I think we’ll probably have to look for a new race winner this week or a driver out of the Top 10 in standings to win it. For now we are going to recommend a Head to Head Matchup play. Keep in mind we always wait until after qualifying and Happy Hour Practice to lock in our selections for the week’s race, so this is sort of like a future bet.

RECOMMENDED PLAY: Play On: Jimmie Johnson in a Head to Head matchup
