Lilly Crib Bedding By Glenna Jean - A Product Review

By: Katherine L

Glenna Jean, a well-respected manufacturer of crib bedding, is available through online retailers and baby specialty stores. The Lilly bedding collection is a good choice for anyone looking for something new and original. While certainly on the high end price-wise compared to other national brands of crib bedding, with pricing ranging from $310 to $360 for the four-piece set, the fabric quality and workmanship of Lilly bedding appears to justify the price for those who can afford it.

Lilly comes as a four-piece set which includes a quilt, bumper, crib skirt, and fitted sheet. There is also a five-piece option with your choice of a pillow or diaper stacker available. All pieces are also sold separately. The collection is made from a 60/40 cotton/poly blend and is machine washable. As with most bedding collections, accessories are available to enhance the nursery. Two common accessories are not available in the Lilly pattern, which are a hamper and wall border.

The Lilly collection is made from several brightly colored fabrics sure to stimulate your baby’s senses in the nursery. While most of the fabrics used are printed, they are tightly woven and appear to be thicker and higher quality than most fabrics I’ve seen. It is difficult to assess how durable the printed patterns will be from simply looking at the fabric – only time will tell. The quilt is comprised of four main fabrics and a blue velvet cording as trim. I can honestly say that I have never seen anything like Lilly.

The quilt features a soft fleece backing. The bumper, while in one continuous piece, is 10” high and features ties on both the top and bottom. An interesting feature of the bumper is the patchwork pattern appears on both sides of the bumper. In most cases, the inward facing part of the bumper features the patterns used in the collection, while the outward facing area is a plaid or another striped fabric used as a background. The crib skirt features a 15” drop. The fitted sheet is made from soft brushed cotton in the flamingo printed fabric.

Because Lilly merchandise is assembled in the United States, it can be particularly appealing for Canadian customers purchasing from a US retailer. It can be shipped to Canada duty-free, thereby avoiding charges of 17% or more of the purchase price that apply to bedding manufactured in China or India.

If the bright colors in Lilly appeal to you, you might want to look at Stop Buggin’ Me also by Glenna Jean.
